Kirinyaga police post closed after officers test positive for COVID-19.

After six police officers at Gathoge police station in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County, tested positive for COVID-19, the station was temporarily closed for ten days.

Kirinyaga Police Commander Leah Kithei said that five police officers are self-quarantined at the station, while the sixth officer is isolated at Kianyaga Sub-county Hospital.

“We are advising the locals to seek services at Kutus police station because we are unable to close the police station,” Kithei said.

Kianyaga sub-county staff have fumigated the entire post, according to the police commander, who also advised residents, including police officers, to follow the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 safety protocols.
